The face of a king

The artist paid particular attention to the head of this god. Jupiter is portrayed (as he often was) with thick hair and beard, which reinforce the impression of power.
The face is framed by snail-shell shaped curls which emphasize the majesty of the expression. The artist also paid careful attention to certain details, such as the pupils (indicated by small holes in the middle of the eyes) and the mouth, which was coloured red with a metal alloy.
