Since 1923, the Castle Museum has been housed in the defensive fortress that was rebuilt on the west cliff in the 15th century. The museum is divided into a number of sections whose common theme is the sea and everything related to it.
The painting collection includes many works by artists who came to paint on the Norman coast. It also features a fine series of still lifes of fish, while over a thousand ivory objects represent the work of the many Dieppe craftsmen who carved this material from the 15th century onwards.
The museum also owns a hundred prints by Georges Braque.
