The museum is housed in the splendid 17th-18th century Hôtel d’Hocqueville. It exhibits items from the major earthenware production centres (Delft, Nevers), but focuses on fine specimens of local production:
tiles by Masséot Abaquesne (16th c.), blue monochrome by Poterat, polychrome decoration and gilt chinoiserie of the rocaille period, ceremonial table services and spectacular faience sculptures.
The collection also covers the 19th century, and exhibitions of ceramic-related contemporary art are held on a regular basis.
